A Short Post of Everyday Happenings

It has been quiet since Easter, just our day to day adventures...

Like getting ready for school with a new skirt and jean vest...

...tumbling and dance and the mastering of technique.

A new doll house for her American Girls, that we have yet to get just right...

...and a class field trip to one of our favorite places...the Eagle River Nature Center, with our guide...Miss Ute... on a finally rainy day in Alaska.

A shot with her teacher that surely will make the card cut...

...and a best buddy walk on the muddy trail.

Doesn't get much better than that.

Easter Day

Up at 4 am.

After all it is her second favorite holiday.

First...the scavenger hunt for her basket she gets from us.

Most she got pretty fast.

Others were more difficult.

She prevailed and found it out in the entryway!

After digging thru our basket, she was off to find what eggs the Easter Bunny left inside the house.

Then she spotted one outside and realized there is a drawback to getting up at 4am....you have to wait for sunrise.

After a convincing that she needed breakfast, we threw on our boots and jackets and headed out.

She said she was an "Eggsaver" as I would have rolled over this one if she hadn't found it.

There were a lot of eggs...

...minnie mouse ones ...

... gold and iridescent ones...

...even a chocolate one that wasn't chocolate at all...it was plastic but had chocolate candy inside!

Then she found this...

...the golden goose egg!

But still couldn't find the basket from the Easter Bunny.  Until she said..."I'm going to check in the car".  I replied..."no, I lock the car, it can't be there".   Luckily, she never listens :)

It was proclaimed to be THE BEST EASTER EVER!

Later, we played with our dolls...this was our car and we were headed for a rode trip to Fairbanks.  Who knew.  After a delicious ham, mac and cheese and asparagus dinner, we had our creepy cake that Amelia and I made :)

Hope everyone had as great an Easter as we did.

'Twas The Week Before Easter...

Easter is Amelia's second favorite holiday...behind Christmas of course.  Mine is Halloween.  She said she doesn't like Halloween as candy makes her sick.  Hmmm and wow.  Anyways...she came home from school Monday and said let's dye Easter eggs!  Done.

She had an American Girl t-shirt on and I said "you better change, just in case dye gets splashed".  She came back with her pj top on...guess that is better. :)

We dyed them traditionally...our favorite way, with a color tablet, vinegar and water.

On to an Easter Snack for her classmates.

I made these before with various fillings and cut outs.  Recipe is HERE and HERE.

Speaking of classmates...we made Easter bags for them full of goodies this past week.

Besides the cookie cutter attached to string, this is what they will find inside:

The round containers are scented dough that smells DELICIOUS.  We wil give them out Friday :)

Of course, the teacher gets an eggstraspecial treat...

Amelia picked out the ladybug with a very large "squeak!"  I made the felt peep.  We bought the mason jar sage planter.  Of course, there are edible goodies in there too.

Next post:  Easter Sunday.
