The Beauty of Fall

I glanced out our window while we were playing hide and seek and saw a coyote in the yard (pictures down below).  While getting a few pics from inside,  as he would have certainly ran the minute I opened the door,  I realized what a beautiful day it was and I needed a few Fall pictures!
She resisted...after all we were just playing a great game of hide and seek.

Plllleeease just throw on a hat over the ratty hair and I will grab a sweater to put over your pjs...it will only take a second.

Sometimes ... it all just works out.  We went back in and continued our hide and seek.

Now for Coyote pics...

Trip to the Fair

A couple weekends ago we headed for our traditional trip to the Alaskan State Fair on a glorious Alaskan day!

First up...face painting.  She says she is going to get the same design every year.

Time for games and rides.

Had lunch (and cotton candy) and strolled thru the buildings.

Then it was time for Amelia's favorite part of the fair...

Horses.

Had her pony ride.

And after 5 hours of fun...it was time to head home.

With an extra bag of cotton candy of course.

Slime and a Unicorn Cake

Amelia has been quite obsessed with slime, mainly due to her obsession with YouTube Kids.  We decided to try our own hands at making Unicorn Fluffy Slime.  We had nearly every ingredient on hand except the contact solution which was cheap at Walmart.

First .. add some glue.

Then your dad's shaving cream...

Stir it up...

Add some food coloring (we did 3 batches of pink, purple and blue)...

Squeeze some glitter glue in there as it is Unicorn slime after all...

ADD A FEW PINCHES OF BAKING SODA (didn't get a picture of that!)

Then add your contact solution (we used quite a few squirts as you want it to be less sticky)..

The stir stir stir until it comes together in a clumpy doughy and...

...stretchy mess.  Then take out and kneed it a bit.

Set aside and make your purple and then blue batch using the same method.

Line them up and swirl them together.

There you have it...Fluffy Unicorn Slime!

If you mix it all together you get Fluffy Purple Unicorn Slime...

..that you can play with.  Add your shopkins to it or a Schleich Water Horse...

Super fun for a few days!  I put the blob in a plastic bag and put it in the fridge to use again when the urge arises...seems to be keeping nicely.  Will try clear glue with glitter next time as the glitter didn't really show up that much and we added A LOT.

Next up...Unicorn Cake.  Again thanks to the You Tube Kids obsession.  This time it is Nerdy Nummies and Rosanna's Unicorn cake.  You can find the recipe HERE.

We didn't have 3 of the small pans...so we made 2 larger.  This was Amelia's first piping job too and it came out rather well!

Yum.

A Couple of Firsts

We had our first day of Second Grade last week...

She has never been so excited about the start of school.  She has the same teacher as last year and simply ecstatic about it.  We celebrated at the end of her first day with a cupcake.

A week or so prior to school starting, Amelia had her first piano recital.

She played "Puff the Magic Dragon" with no mistakes.

She just began lessons this summer and already her fingers are flying.
