Goings on...Victoria Sandwich, Weaving and Fairies Do Exist

Amelia and I have been hooked on the Great British Bake Off  so we tried our skills with Mary Berry's Victoria Sandwich.

The recipe can be found HERE.  Raspberries were direct from our patch...making it even better!

It's Amelia's new favorite.  We had a slice while weaving.  She was inspired by a craft in her American Girl magazine, so we went at it one weekend.

She was pretty happy with the results!

One morning as we were heading out to school, I glanced over and noticed the fuchsia's were looking amazing and fairy like!  Considering it was nearing the end of September in Alaska that is a feat!  Pretty sure this is what inspired Tchaikovsky's Dance of the Flowers.

When I came home, I took some pictures and went inside.  A little while later this guy came by and thought "why was she so interested in those flowers??!"

Lastly, we have been enjoying our Alaskan Fall with bike rides.

Soon...Halloween Festivities.

First Day of 3rd Grade and Fair Fun

Hard to believe but 3rd Grade began a few weeks ago.

Always bittersweet for both the beginning and ending of a school year...but she was super happy to have these 2 back in her class.

Ready to begin!

The Alaska State Fair runs during school, so we opted for a gorgeous Sunday.  This time we had a friend join us...made it even better.

Double win at fishing!

Amelia said "MOM...look at the Tiger Pig!"  If anyone has seen the Simpsons Movie, feel free to hum "Tiger pig...tiger pig".

They LOVED this ride the most...
