Catching Up thru Valentine's Day

I have been slow at posting, but gradually getting back to speed.  Hurray!

On a beautiful day I bribed Amelia to run up to Mt. Baldy after school and pose for some photos.  I had planned to do this earlier for our Christmas Card photo, but the earthquake forced me to put that on hold.

I decided that it didn't matter that Christmas was over, I was going to do a Christmas card and I would wrap in New Years and Valentine's Day too!

For Valentine's Day we made goodies for teachers and friends.

One for boys .... candy, ruler, note pad, pencil, eraser, socks, scratch airplane, paper airplane and a a hand made bookmark.

One for girls... same as boys except a cootie catcher instead of the scratch off airplane and a Paris memory game instead of the paper airplane.  Girls received clear rulers and boys red, only because I didn't have enough of one color!

Her teacher received a valentine recipe box like the one we made for her previous teacher. You can see that if you click HERE.  Her other teachers (music, art, gym, health and library) received a goody bag of items to keep them healthy.

All had a handmade, handwritten horse valentine and a bookmark where we took our favorite photo from the Christmas card and laminated it with my new laminator.   Funny story:  I help out Amelia's teacher one day a week and I do a lot of laminating with the heavy duty one they have at school.  I kept mentioning how much I loved it to Rob... and he got a smaller one for me for Christmas!

Lastly, we came home from a birthday party one evening and Rob met us at the car saying "hurry you  are going to miss the blood moon!"  It was cold out and we looked up and sure enough the moon was red!  Rob and Amelia headed inside to view and I quickly grabbed my camera.  I trekked back out shivering to try to get a half ways decent shot.  Shakey camera and all...here is what I ended up with.  IF ONLY I was better prepared!

Still...pretty cool.

A 9th Birthday Party is coming up.  More to come...
