Home and Adventures

We have been home a month and emptying boxes and hanging pictures.  It has been a year and half since the earthquake and a year and a half with things in boxes.  We even had a few surprises when opening a few...finding things we had forgotten about.  It is sooo good to be home.

Amelia celebrated as soon as she could outside.  I keep saying this, but eventually when more of the outside work has been done and boxes inside have been unpacked, will have a before and after post of this whole ordeal.  We still need a few replacement pieces of furniture as much was tossed in a pile outside and taken to the dump after the earthquake.  This quarantine doesn't put any speed on doing that.  So it will be coming.

In the meantime, here is what our first month home has looked like:

Almost the day after we were home, "Peekaboo" said hello.  We haven't chosen blinds on our windows yet...easier to catch a glimpse of what has always been lurking around the corner.

Quickly used our new stovetop to cook up our favorite meal.

A few days after Peekaboo's visit, Samantha said hello.  Pretty sure she is the same moose that is now being trailed by a baby.  Will stay far from her, as momma moose are one of the most dangerous animals you can come across.

Amelia's room and playroom were one of the first things we tried to get in order.  We have even added a few shelves in her American Girl section thanks to Target. Once that all gets in order, will have a post on her spaces too.

After shoveling all the Lego sets that broke apart when they fell to the ground after the earthquake,  we have finally started the daunting task of sorting them and rebuilding.  It will take a long time. Amelia usually stops and plays with each set...delaying the process even more. haha.

This past week I ventured to the local greenhouse and picked up a few herbs for Amelia's garden.

She put together a fairy garden too.  Since they will be doing a lot of work outside in the next couple months (siding, septic, retaining wall and new deck), we figured to keep it a bit simple as far as planting goes.  Good news...the rhubarb I transplanted is growing...I figured I would lose it all when they dug up half the house.

Lastly, we have been biking, biking and biking.  We both absolutely love our adventures and the places our rides have brought us!  Met up with a couple friends too...maintaining our distance of course.

Even brought a lunch with us on one of our trips.

This picture almost looks like we are in Hawaii.  It has been that nice here.

Stay healthy and will keep you posted on our Summer fun.

Easter at the Rental 2020

We were not suppose to be at the rental house for Easter.  We were to be back home, but the coronavirus had delayed our return.  Luckily we got back when we did on April 25th (but more on that when we post the remodel).   Although packed and ready to go, we had a very wonderful Easter.  One that I reminded Amelia that she will remember, like Christmas, when we weren't at home.

Next:  An update on what we have been doing since getting back home!

A Kind of Belated Birthday

Amelia has had a few magnificent birthday parties, complete with friends, games and fun. It was our intention on having an epic Decade Birthday Party for Amelia along side a homecoming party when we moved back to our house.  The Earthquake happened Nov. 2018 (good Lord has it been that long?!) and we moved out for renovation in August 2019 (insurance takes a LONG time).  We were suppose to have been back Feb 15th.  That was delayed til March 15th and then the coronavirus lockdown hit ... delaying even more.  We moved back to our house April 25th (and that was an adventure in itself!) with still much to do, but mainly on the exterior.  The epic party will now have to wait until all things corona die down.  Might even have to wait til the epic 11th birthday where we will have to make up for a year without an official birthday party.

Don't feel too bad for Amelia though...she had a fantastic day on her real birthday in early March with just Mom and Dad.  Here are a few of those photos...

We are now getting unpacked...happily tossing away boxes as we do!  Next will post our Easter at the rental as that too I neglected to do.  When the outside (siding, decking, retaining wall, asphalt) gets somewhat completed ... that post on before and after will show up eventually!
