More Summer Art

Our kitchen table has barely been used for eating.  It has been consistently covered with one art project or another.  I love it.

First birdhouses and squishies.

Used acrylic and puffy paint for these...oh and sprinkles :)

this is what they looked like before and then....after:

Need fabric paint to paint squishies and lots of it. Takes lots and lots of coats that need to dry in between.  We used puffy paint too.   Need to sand them first as well.  Think they look a lot better than the originals!

Amelia decorated a water bottle with her new Posca Paints.  Then we sealed it with liquitex.

Painted more rocks and seashells.

One of our favorite projects ... shrink plastic pins!

Bought sheets of shrink plastic, the kind you make shrinky drinks with, used posca pens and colored pencils for our designs and then baked.  Once cooled, I put Mod Podge dimensional magic on them for a puffy, shiny look.  Added some pin backs that I bought on Amazon and ta da...they look fantastic!  I love them. Will do more of these for sure.

Finally, I bought 2 copies of Create This Book.  One for Amelia and one for me.  Really great prompt art book that I figured would be a great addition to this year's online school and something we could do side by side.  Will show a few pages here and there as we go along.

More Art (I am sure) and the last of summer coming up...oh and a Peregrine Falcon!

Cooking, Baking and My Joanna Gaines Obsession

I am a bit late on the Fixer Upper / Chip and Joanna Gaines obsession.  I am just now watching every episode on HGTV and acquiring both Joanna Gaines' cookbooks.  I have tabbed so many recipes that I should have tabbed the ones I might not make.  I am not nearly done trying all of them...but here are a few that I remembered to take photos of before devouring.

Crew's Cookies

Overnight French Toast
Peach Cobbler
Brownie Pie
Chicken Spaghetti
French Silk Pie with Graham Cracker Crust

Chocolate Chip Cookies
(the best I have ever had...seriously)

All were insanely delicious.

Made but devoured too quickly for a photoshoot...Lucy's Peanut Butter Brownies, Jo's Peanut Butter Balls, Chocolate-Dipped Shortbread Cookies, Strawberry Pie,  Macaroni Salad,  Coleslaw,  Philly Cheesesteaks, Sunday Pot Roast, Chicken Puff Pastries, Chicken Pot Pie, Tortellini Soup, Gaines Family Chili and at the top of our list....Weeknight Salmon...we know salmon and this  was fantastic!

And this was just about her cookbooks!  I love her style and designs and scour Target for her latest releases.   I was also giddy to hear they are coming back with another season of Fixer Upper on their very own network ... can't wait.

Of course it wasn't all about Magnolia Table baking these past few weeks.  Amelia and I made Kodiak Donuts.

and these ...

These were inspired by Moriah Elizabeth.  A YouTuber who has won both of us over with squishy painting, art ...and baking.

Next time we will have some "dessert" squishes of our own to show you and some "edible" birdhouses too.

Boy am I hungry after this post!
