And Then There Were Horses...

I had originally posted back in December in the Where Should I Begin post about Amelia's new passion for horseback riding.

Since then we decided to switch stables due to the fact that the one she was going to was for learning to jump and show horses.  Amelia really wanted to learn how to care for them as well, to learn everything thing there is to learn about horses, with the intention of someday owning one of her own.  The new stable is where she met Bandit.

She is the most calm and endearing horse I have ever met (not that I have met many).  Amelia loves her and the stable, that is about 20 minutes from our house.

She loves it so much, that we decided to add another stable for lessons as Bandit's owner (and Amelia's instructor) is not available as often as Amelia would like.  This new stable introduced her to Prince.

Maybe not as loving and calm as Bandit, but Prince has an edge about him that she adores.  He challenges her and for some reason she wants to meet him in the challenge.  Other horses with this temperament she has been fearful of, but not this one.  Funny how horses and riders make this pact.

A couple weeks ago her best friend from the first 20 minutes of Kindergarten came to visit from Alaska with her mom.  She is a horse lover too and the two gave Prince the pampering of a lifetime.

I think horses now will always be a part of her life.  Our promise to her, when we move to our forever home in Ohio in a few years, there will be one or two in the barn waiting for her.
