Fun and a few finds

Spring means...
Alaskan garage/tag/yard sales :)

I mentioned in a previous post (somewhere) that Alaska is known for their sales.  Back East there are plenty of sales and good ones at that, but there is something about the constant flux of people in and out of Alaska and the dreadful thought of lugging things 3 to 4 thousand miles (if moving to the lower 48) that makes for some pretty crazy good sales.

In Eagle River the official kick off (which I just learned) begins with the Heritage Estates neighborhood sale.  A huge neighborhood encompassing blocks and blocks of houses that on 3 days in April are lined with cars and people meandering thru their lawns.  I brought Amelia along.

Here are my "finds":

Oneida Regency dish set in EXACTLY the pattern and color I wanted!  Imagine that.  Missing a cup and a couple plates (I would have broken them anyways :P)  for ..... $4.  Yep the whole lot for $4.  I am not going to say that again...$4.

It was worth it just for this...but we also found...

These adorable ice cream cups.  I have another set that are much larger, more for sundaes,
but this is perfect for Amelia  and her nightly ice cream obsession.  Price...4 for $1.  Sold.
Note:  Amelia wanted her blue bowl even though I pleaded with her to try our new dessert cups.

Even though Easter is over, we still have tons of candy.  This came from Target, as "Threshold" is on the bottom and I do declare this couldn't be a cuter porcelain Easter candy jar.  $1

Tried to get the "St. Petersburg" in this picture.  Says "Russia" on the back.  It was only fifty cents and I thought it was rather unique.

Enough about my finds, here are Amelia's:

This is a rather heavy teapot.  Probably will not last that long, but for $1 it was worth it.  She loves tea parties and we assembled a quick one with a new $1 Barbie (with shoes that light up) as soon as we got home.  I even convinced Rob to break out the Mint Girl Scout cookies he had been saving in the freezer (there are still 2 more and they have been in there since last year).  She loves to use these old dishes as they "clink". :)

We love all our Eeboo merchandise, especially art supplies and her sewing cards.  On Amazon it is rather pricey, so $2 for this Best Toy Award Garden Game was a no brainer, as she is also becoming a game nut.

Spike the dragon was in the $1 wagon just for modeling purposes...he was a prior gift :) We attached a rope to it so she could maneuver better throughout the house.

Zarina too was a gift and was handy for demonstration purposes only.  The fifty cent chair fits a Barbie or like size doll just perfectly, even if wearing a sword :)

This doll bed was a toughy.  Had a $5 price tag and she already has 2 beds (one that is a triple bunk bed at that)!  It had a canopy on it as well and as you can see was in rough shape.   I offered $2 and she seemed happy to get rid of it.  I went home and got rid of the canopy and of course (as I do EVERY item) washed it and carpenter glued it.

I had wood putty in my cart when I went shopping the next day, so to do a proper repair, however I said.."What am I doing??? I paid $2!  Why am I spending more?"  I knew I had tape at home :)

Works great.  And Liz the doll couldn't be happier.

Besides the above Barbie, she bought another $1 one that just so happened to the 12 Dancing Princess Barbie that  she had previously that was stepped on and broken. Bought quite a few books too.  She couldn't have been happier.  Finally...

we found these.  I saw quite a few that weren't nearly in as nice a shape that were $10 - $20, these ... $3.

Mission completed.  Let's head home.

Since the weather has been perfect...car washing was in order while Dad changed the studded tires over.  Yep she had her pjs underneath.

We also met up with friend Kayla at the playground this week for over 2 hours of fun.  Could hardly get a photo of them even when they were forced pose on the steps.

Oh and made a sign for my raspberry patch.  Now I have to grow raspberries even if these that our wonderful neighbors, Renee and Walt, gave us..die. I will then need more to go with the sign :) :P

Whew that was a long post. :)
