A little sneak peek at the master bath.
Only a couple things need to be done. Will wait til everything is completed to give the grand tour. However, I was sooooo happy on how this cabinet turned out, I had to post.
Of course, I was way too anxious to get this project completed and forgot to take before pictures. I can give you a brief description...a hideous green and paint peeling (literally like tape). They didn't paint it properly and I knew I could do it right. I bought it at a garage sale for $10. Yep, $10 bucks.
It is just a particle board piece, nothing heirloom for sure, but perfect for our evolving country cottage bathroom.
First, I sanded with a circular sander all the paint off, used a primer and then put 2 coats of latex semi gloss white with a light sanding in between with steel wool. Distressed it ever so slightly and VIOLA! A beautiful cabinet. The baskets I had (previous garage sale purchase for about $3 a piece). One thing I did buy was a quart of paint (didn't have any pure white) and bought foam rollers and a mini roller that I will use for all my furniture projects...they were fantastic...no brush lines! I only used a small foam brush for corners I couldn't get to with the roller. I love how it turned out. I did the bench in the last picture as well...same technique and purchased that for $10 as well at the same sale. SCORE! Will have more pictures after I complete our peg boards, purchase a blind and do a couple more little fixes.
On to the rest of our week.
Amelia is LOVING first grade. I attribute this to a great teacher...she cannot stop talking about her. We had open house this last week and Amelia got to show us around. Notice the drawing next to hers with those eyes looking at her...hahah.
Had dance, ice skating and gymnastics too. I will do a post on all her activities soon. She emptied out all her stuffed animals from the rescue center bin ... onto her bed. It is out of control.
and we got our ceramics back from the birthday party we went to a few posts back.
Pretty spiffy.
I am not sure about you, but Halloween decorating is calling me. Fall has arrived in AK.
