The 6th Birthday Party

March has been a busy month.  Hawaii, a visit from Grammy and a Barbie Birthday Party...let's just say the house has been cleaned, dirtied and re-cleaned ... several times.

Our original plan was to have Amelia's birthday on the 13th, however, many of her friends were on vacation (it was the beginning of Spring break),  so we rescheduled to the following Sunday.

The decorations.

It had snowed a foot the day prior.  Luckily it all but melted by party time (whew).  Our theme was Barbie, but we played on the "marketing" of Barbie...complete with shopping bags to hold all the goodies.

Barbie in Ballet display...

Mermaidia...

Fairytopia...

I had bought a slew of gold and pink clipboards at Target and used them for menu descriptions and to hold quotes of Barbie.  This one reads "hold onto your dreams."  :)

Each guest's first stop was to choose a barbie.  They received a gold crown if they answered a few Barbie trivia questions in "Ask Barbie".

Amelia manned the tattoo station, where each received a demonstration and their own pack of tattoo pens to add to their bags.  Bracelets, pencils, lip gloss, nail polish, emery boards, necklaces, hair ties were getting thrown in too!

Each were guided to the fashion station where they picked up a few accessories for their barbie.

Each received a clipboard too, after they wrote a birthday wish for the Birthday Girl (along with more ice cream lip balm)!

The Barbie Photo booth....

I got this idea from Pinterest.  It was a HUGE hit.  I picked up the refrigerator box from Home Depot.  Bought some pink spray paint, printed the "barbie" and "mattel" logos on card stock and lined the inside with 50 cent wrapping paper I spotted on clearance at Michaels.   I wanted to use it for 2 purposes...one as a photo booth, the other to block off Rob's office from wandering little people.  It worked.  Although I think it was a bit too large and since I was using it for a gate...the lighting wasn't all that great for photos:(  Oh well.  Although I got each guest and the birthday girl in the photo booth, here are a few funnies:

Ken and Super Power Ken showed up.

Barbies love Ken:

The Cake and Food:

Everyone pretty much knows, the only thing I don't make is the cake.  Way too stressful to do at the last minute and others do a much better job than I would.   Like this :)  The bakery at Fred Meyer's said people were oogling this as it sat for a bit until I picked it up.

There were Malibu wraps and veggie chips....

and a blonde chili that evaded my camera somehow (always miss something)....along with a veggie tray near the Barbie and her Ponies display.

Chelsea sandwiches of pb&j, cheese or tuna in the shape of a barbie silhouette.  Some came out a little rough :)

Fairytopia wands were a hit...

as well as the pink Macaroons.

Other appetizers of bacon wrapped mushrooms, smoked salmon, olives, and popcorn were on the menu too..

We also had a christmas station (seen in the back left of pic) that I regretfully forgot to photograph before all the kids picked a barbie Christmas ornament :(  The sign above read "Keep Calm and Play Barbies".

The rest of the party is self explanatory...

Six birthdays under the belt...a many thanks to all who came and celebrated the big day!

Next : Grammy came the week before the party and left the day after so will be posting that in reverse.  Oh and let's not forget Easter!  AND our bathroom is nearly complete ... woo hoo.

All that and more next time.

    1. Chelsea named after Barbie's little sister...hence the pbj, cheese and tuna :P But could be for the other Chelsea as well! It was a fantastic party. Next year I think we are going with a "animal rescue" party. Hope all is well with you! See you in June/July!
