Halloween Adventures

My sister was visiting this past week (more on that later) and she got to join us for the Eagle River Nature Center's  Halloween Walk!

This was the perfect place for Amelia to reveal her Halloween Costume (add dramatic music).  Presenting....

Princess Zelda!
The Zelda of Nintendo switch's video game, Breath of the Wild, that is.

Although it wasn't as cold as it usually is this time of year (AND NO SNOW! YEAH!), Amelia wore a fleece cape I made her, but Zelda doesn't wear one, at least as far as we know as we haven't finished the game yet.  I assured Amelia that if so,    it would most surely look like this one.

The nature center was the perfect backdrop as areas of the game really do look like this...especially the Akkala region where you might find a bear and even ride it!  In the game that is...don't try to ride a bear if you see one on a trail!

We have been to the Halloween Walk only once before and you can read about that HERE.  We loved it and I think due to illness or snow storms, we just hadn't made it back until now.  So glad we did...

There were games...

and characters to meet....

and even Owl Pellets to dissect to find bones ...  Amelia wasn't too head over heels about doing this activity.

After running around for an hour or so, she ditched the cape and headed over to have a hot cocoa princess style and a few cookies before calling it a day.

The next day we carved our pumpkin...

First you draw...

and draw some more.

Til you have it perfect, right down to the last freckle.

Then you carve...

or go over the outline Mom did first.  This was her first carving, so didn't want her to get discouraged or more importantly...hurt!

Success.

Now the fun part...

don't let her fool you, this is what she loved.  It's just orange slime!

The finished project:

Its a girl pumpkincorn with a bow, arms and freckles in case you didn't see that right off the bat :)

Happy Halloween!

Next...Halloween night.

And in case you were wondering what the "real" Zelda looks like..
