Finally...the day had arrived. We were off to Disneyland!
After a layover in Seattle, we landed at LAX where we met Grammy, who had flown in earlier, right outside our gate. Then greeted by Julius, our Limo driver (actually a town car but hey it was luxurious nonetheless!) He took us to our condo across from Disneyland where Uncle Mark, Aunt LeeAnn, Bryce, Kate, Collin and Grace were waiting.
The bunkbeds were as much fun as Disneyland to Amelia. After playing all evening and watching fireworks, we headed to bed for a very busy day ahead of us.
Waking early, we headed to the Adventure Land side of the park. We were immediately greeted by this guy.
Amelia's reaction was this:
Mickey tried to help with a game of hide and seek.
Our autograph book was going to look mighty slim of autographs if this was her reaction to all disney characters!
Moving on...
I had scheduled a 10:20 appointment at the Anna Elsa Boutique in Downtown Disney. I figured it would be a fantastic time to meet Anna and Elsa after the makeover. The meet and greet was only thru a Fastpass ticket (I will go thru all the details of Disney logistics in my final post...our experiences with getting around, etc.), so I stayed and waited for a noon ticket while the girls and Dad headed back for the makeover and Uncle Mark and Bryce went and did some big kids rides. Meet Anna and Elsa tickets in hand, I caught up to them before the shop opened. :)
Before...
During...
As I glanced around at other kids, I noticed one thing...quiet and serious...not many smiles or giggles. I compared it to taking your pet to the vet...they are in a state of disbelief...no idea what is going on...a sense of danger and unfamiliarity in the air....therefore...don't make any sudden moves :)
A bit of pixie dust before they are unveiled!
After...
Cousin Kate did the makeover too. I have TONS of photos of Amelia and her cousins, however, I will concentrate on Amelia's experience in these posts...everyone gets copies of my photos along with the PhotoPass ones that were taken (more on that in a future post).
It was time to head back to California Adventure Park and meet the Queen and Princess.
No fear of these two!
Elsa admired her makeover.
She got a hug from Anna.
And a graceful, royal one from Elsa. I can only imagine what was going on thru Amelia's head at this point!
Six million photos later...one last group shot and our time was up.
Time for some rides in Bug Land.
Uh oh...Flick.
I realized then what characters Amelia did not like...ones with big heads and boys. There was only two exceptions to this (more on that in the next post).
Disney personnel tried to help.
He managed a wave.
Moving on to Cars Land.
Where we sat and watched a brief show in the streets. It was rather hot in the sun (the hottest day of our trip) and it was loud. Cars Land was amazing...the details were stunning. Of course, Dad pulled up to his favorite shop.
Then she eyed Mater!
and caught the tail end of McQueen.
Red was there too, but the look on Amelia's face said "I'm not staying here long". He was loud and ... he is a boy...and well...that was enough of that.
It was time for a bite to eat and...and...and...a carousel ride!
What is it about a carousel ride that kids love.
After about 3 spins for Amelia, we were off to the Under the Sea Adventure ride.
Loved it. Uh oh...Woody. Boy with big head.
He even played duck duck goose.
Amelia would have nothing of it. Besides ... it was time for the parade!
But first...some dancing.
Let the parade begin.
Time to call it an evening for this crew...see ya tomorrow Disneyland!
