It was time to see the classics at the Disneyland side of the park. We used our Early Morning Hour to get in at 8am and hopefully do some rides sans the crowds.
However, we spotted a few familiar faces...
Big head boy...not good.
Wait! It's Minnie! Big head Girl??
No problem! What about Daisy Duck???
Squeezable.
Let's review: It's not the big heads...it's the boys? Or maybe it's the size of the character? No can't be as Mickey was small and she would have nothing to do with him. Girls only then. But first let's do some of the classic rides...
Teacups. Check.
Dumbo. Check.
King Arthur Carousel. Check.
Circus Train. Check.
Sleeping Beauty's Castle. Check.
Oh wait....the Evil Queen. Would she go up to her???
No Goofy or Mickey or Pluto..but the Evil Queen?...Sure. Speechless. HOWEVER, it falls under the definition of "only girl characters".
Detour to Tink.
Yeah! Silvermist was there too!
Back to rides. It's a Small World. Check.
We even saw a few familiar shapes!
On to Toon Town! Check.
I am pretty confident that Toon Town is where the measles outbreak began. Where is the sanitizer!
Moving along...Frontierland and a petting zoo. Check.
Seriously, we traveled 3,000 miles for a petting zoo and a carousel. Amelia's 2 favorite things.
How about a carriage ride with Finn the horse?
This was Finn's last ride for the day and he dropped us off at the beginning of the park, so we had to walk back.
Good thing we did as we spotted Mary Poppins and Bert!
Amelia loves Mary Poppins and we really can't say if Bert falls into the boy character restrictions as Mary Poppins handed him the autograph book. They did not stop ...signed books as they walked...not sure if she would have went up to Bert if he were by himself. Note: We ran into him earlier (not realizing he was Bert) and he assisted us with directions to Tinkerbell with a very happy and pleasant smile ... maybe Amelia remembered this.
Mouse ears were a must. Princess style of course.
Back on the carousel.
While everyone ate lunch at a Fantasyland sit down restaurant, I went to get Fast Passes for the Storytellers Theater Frozen show for later that evening. Amelia sat in the front row and Grammy and I sat in the chairs in the back of kid seating. We all loved it.

On our way out we spotted Snow White...
and played by the fountain for what seems to be forever...3,000 miles for carousels, petting zoos and fountains. :)
Stopped at the Lego store ... of course!
and ended the evening with a fabulous dinner at the Jazz Kitchen.
We actually had reservations for the Plaza Inn with Character Dining early in the day, however, Amelia was having so much fun with rides and all the goodies the Disneyland Park has to offer, Rob and I decided to forgo our reservation and wing it as far as eating was concerned. Even though we were charged $10, we probably saved $100 in not eating at Plaza Inn. Tried to get another time...but that was next to impossible on short notice.
We still had Ariel's Grotto reservations for lunch tomorrow...will see what happens.
