Summer at Home

I have a love/hate relationship with Summer and Alaska.

This year was the first time we have stayed home for the entire Summer and I admit...I LOVE IT!  However, I hate not seeing my family, therefore...I am torn.

To be honest, late last winter,  knowing the amount of work that would still need to be done on our house, we contemplated not going anywhere.  Then covid happened and our decision was made for us.

I don't think Amelia has once said she's bored (I remember saying that a billion times as a kid).   It is one art/craft project after another, sprinkled with unexpected happenings.

Without further adieu...here are some of those so far.

Whenever there is digging involved the crew that shows up always bring "Koala",  she and Amelia have become quick friends.

Speaking of animals...

These 2 paid us a visit, until Mom "said" (with this look) "no more photos".

Skating has returned on a limited basis.  It was good to feel semi normal.

Barbie Hack.  We have a couple Barbies with kind of a gunk in their hair.  Greasy almost, but of course we know Barbies do not produce oily hair!  Apparently it's from the glue inside their heads that melt over time.  Found a YouTube station explaining how to fix...and ... and...

...it kinda worked. Didn't take out all the guk, but for a couple it worked well.

Speaking of Barbies...Amelia has been filming video after video. You can view them all on her YouTube channels Amelialand and her gaming channel TheJamFam, including making Barbie clothes, that I never pulled out my camera for.

Let's do some art....

Painted some rocks.

Hydro dipped her sneakers.

Which ended up looking cool, but wore them once and they cracked and peeled.  They are currently in an early stage of a new art project, so will let you know how that turns out.

Took a LONG walk (2 miles down to the mail box and 2 back up the mountain). Lucky Dad was there to hold her hand.

Then a week long art event that included (but not limited too as it is still ongoing) painting squishies, my makeup container, water bottle, jewelry box and a birthday rock for her cousin.   All the finished projects will appear in the next post.

One creative idea after another, sprouted a desk by her window where she can draw, write and listen to music.  She loves it.

She attends to her garden ... even in the rain.

Much more to come...see ya next time.
