The Reindeer Farm's Fall Festival turned into a Winter Festival after 7+ inches of snow the day before. Either way, Amelia and her friends had a spectacular time on a glorious day ...
We have been to the Reindeer Farm many times but the first festival we attended was their Winter Festival last December and we loved it so much that we surely didn't want to miss this. There were rumors the first 2 weekends (Fall weather ones) were full of long lines and people everywhere. No sign of that on our visit, I think the snow put a damper on people's Fall spirit. Lucky us.
There was tube pushing in the field and lots of hay climbing...
Reindeer rides...
and breaks of hot chocolate.
Shrek and Fiona were there (Amelia stood as far away from Shrek as she could)...
and minions in the center of the hay maze.
There was ring toss on antlers...
ghost bean bags...
and potato launches where they practiced with tennis balls first.
There was a haunted walk...
and bunnies...
and lots of friend photos to take.
And last but not least, horseback riding....
and of course...reindeer to feed.
Maybe we will hit more Fall like weather next year, but one of the things I like most about the reindeer farm is its small, quaint and you feel like you are at a friend's farm enjoying your day. Crowds wouldn't add to the enjoyment. :)
The week prior to the festival was Alaska Dance Theatre's "An Artful Affair" that I organized for them. The profits went to their scholarship program and we ended up raising over $1,000. Amelia and I were busy crafting for the event weeks prior and her leaf prints were a huge hit. I managed to grab a couple pictures....
The leaf prints did really well and all by Amelia's hand. We took leaves (nasturtiums, raspberry and birch leaves) and painted them with acrylic craft paint and then just pressed them on canvases that I picked up at Michael's that included the stands. We also had felt cookies and dancer dishes..to name a few.
Although Amelia and her friends, who also supported the event with bracelets and bookmarks, had 4 hours of fun playing around the studios and somehow conjuring up more kids to play with, they did manage to be instrumental in key sales with their cuteness :)
We have been busy with all things Halloween and I diligently working on her costume that will remain secret until Monday :)
