I cannot lie...I was just as (if not more) excited than Amelia about going. I am a big Jack Hanna fan :)
Grandpa and Oma and Oma's niece, Chrissy, and her two kids, Elise and Christian all joined us for a day of fun. We followed the navigator...it's a big zoo.
We quickly found a few familiar friends.
Then off to the Heart of Africa exhibit...amazing. It was set up to look like the lions, giraffes and zebras all mingled with one another ... just like at home, but in between the lions and the others was a big culvert to keep the predators at bay. Good thing.
After stopping for lunch we needed to see more...much more.
The Kangaroos were a big hit...
as well as the orangutans and nose picking (and eating it) gorilla.
After seeing the Manatee having a snack...it was our turn...
Amelia had her first Dippin' dots and chose a ride on the carousel rather than a camel. I was not surprised by this at all.
There were bronze statues all over the park and were pretty much as fun as seeing the animals. I took advantage of photo ops.
The tiger was a fav...
and the real ones too...
After a FULL day...we hit the zoo gift shop and headed back accompanied with Stripey, our new Zebra.
A good rest was needed...it was then time to head back to NY...
