I always say that having a big bash for a birthday pretty is pretty much like doing the shows I used to do when I owned a dance and performing arts center....just less stressful. It definitely provides me with a creative outlet!
Boxes curtesy of USPS Flat Rates.... plan to reuse all of them. Just bought a roll of white paper and chalked in the "stones". The "Once Upon A Time" sign cardboard came from one of the mom's who came to the party. They just moved into their new house and with my luck purchased a new couch that came in a gigantic box!
Looks more "castley" in black and white.
Added the "UP" balloons at the last minute or I would have included some yellow, blue and green ones.
Come on in ... and welcome to "Amelialand at Disneyland Alaska"!
Guests were guided over to Minnie's Boutique, where they picked up their Minnie/Mickey ears....
...then headed to the Mad Hatter's Table to pick up one of the lanyards scattered about with attached print of a disney movie and magic key. They would need to wear those throughout the party and at the end of the day match up their movie tag with the one that is attached to the appropriate bag. Of course they had to get the answer to a Disney question in "Ask Minnie"... our last game of the evening.
Bags I picked up at Disneyland...every time we bought something I asked for a few extra bags :)
To the Mad Hatter's Table...
I made Mad Hatter's hat out of cardboard and duct tape and used extra material from her Halloween costume to cover...took all of 15 minutes :)
Had lots of goodies to look at on the table including an old copy of Alice in Wonderland (I love old books) :)
Here is a better view of the lanyards I mentioned. I took this pic before the food and cake arrived.
Speaking of food...
In addition to the pulled pork or "Grizzley Peak Pork Sandwiches" where a decent photo somehow evaded my camera, we had ...
Sorcerer's Wands
Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Sandwiches
and Peanut Butter and Jelly Pizza!
This recipe was included in the package we received at Disneyland Hotel's Goofy's Kitchen....I copied it and had them for people to take. Mine was not as good. I think jam would be better than jelly.
Speaking of Goofy's Kitchen...
... appetizers were plentiful...
Cheese tray ... where I remembered the Okra, but forgot to put out the ... cheese.
Lastly, there were chips...mickey veggie chips to be exact. Purchased at Target ... when I found them...I gasped.
Lots more Disney Decor too...
Amelia's Silhouette done at Disneyland...
Banners on the "Disneyland" side and...
on the "California Adventure" side :)
There was a place set aside just for "Amelialand"...Amelia at 7, a silhouette of mickey that the artist gave us after he did Amelia's silhouette, Amelia painted letters form our 2015 trip and a signed Elsa and Anna pic from that trip too.
We had the 2015 autograph book on hand to view and a place for all the guests to sign a new one as well. There was even a documentary dvd on Walt Disney to play.
There was Elsa and her pals...
Tink and her fairy garden....
and many lego Disney creations...
including The Lego Disney Castle...
... that could actually turn (on a cake icing plate) to see the inside!
There were games with prizes...
like Amelia's wild ride (ping pong ball in the cup) and ...
Pin the Bow on Minnie.
Prizes were in separate gift bags for each game (one for boys...one for girls). The winner got to dip their hands in first. They soon realized that each boy received the same prize and each girl the same, but they still played fiercely at each of the 6 games to be the first in line to dig in! Games also included Haunted Mansion bowling, Would you Rather (disney style and received a point if they guessed which Amelia picked) and Olaf's Snowball Throw.
At the end of the evening was "Ask Minnie" ... where I asked each a question about a Disney movie. If they didn't know the answer, they could ask an adult at the party OR go straight to Minnie. Of course, Minnie knew all the answers as it is not about winning or losing...it is how you play the game :) If they were correct they could go and find their match on one of the Disney bags hanging in Minnie's Bowtique. Finding the match is a thrill in itself! I told them they could not open until all had their bags. Did I get a picture of them all opening their giant Minnie or Chubacca??? .... of course not :( Oh well.
Speaking of "Oh" ... the Cake:
I don't make the cakes on birthdays...way too preoccupied. Don't need the extra stress the day of a party. This year I went with Walmart bakery as Fred Meyer doesn't do tiered cakes any longer (what?) ... came out quite nice I think.
Wait! Need one with the 7 year old teeth :) ... Got it.
And finally...the most important....the Friends:
We even had a photo booth to capture them all. One of each with Amelia for her autograph book including her ice skating coach, Malia...
and a few extras...
and the group shot.
Happy 7th Birthday Princess (Minnie) Amelia!
