Our Christmas Rush

Why do I feel rushed to cram everything that I ever wanted to do in the few days before Christmas? :)

The Gingerbread ... scratch that...Graham Cracker House was waiting to be made until I had a bit of enthusiasm from one little girl.

Yesterday was the day.

She added a bit...

then checked to make sure it tasted ok...

Added a bit...

Yep...still tasted good...

It is our little cabin the the wilderness...complete with gingerbread bears.  You can see last year's cottages here.   However,  no one will be eating this house...ever and I don't think she will want to look at this masterpiece for a while as...

she didn't want dinner.  Then....

sigh....yep.  Was sick thru the night.  Not sure if it was the house building or something that was creeping up and the candy put her over the edge.  She said she didn't feel well the whole day.  She certainly didn't act it, but there were a couple clues that I missed.

We went to see Santa (err...I told her Santa's village) at the Bass Pro Shop earlier in the day...where she had crocodile tears coming down after she said she didn't want to see him.

But I just figured I shouldn't have surprised her.  Besides...she bounced back by finding a little girl who was equally as chatty by the fish and the polar bear.  But then was back to being grumpy in the toy area until Dad carried her out as she wanted to go home.

Hoping it is just a day thing and she will be back to normal by tomorrow.

We had been out enjoying the not so cold weather.   Not much snow.  In fact this snow was from her photo shoot for her Christmas card.  Nothing since then, much to Amelia's dismay.

We also made the fabulous yarn trees:

Amelia's is the sparkly one.  She picked the yarn at Jo-ann Fabrics on one of your outings and besides a bit of help...wrapped and wrapped the yarn around by herself.  Just a spot of glue at the bottom (and top) and just keep winding up and down.  Mine's the fluffy white one.  On our outing yesterday I made a quick stop at Michael's for two little cone trees so each could have a baby tree :)  Might have to wait for my partner to feel better to finish up our yarn forest.

Lastly,  a few pics I have been promising:

The lego bridge that Amelia and Rob made.

and the city train at the station ... where a water tower from a Lone Ranger set that has appeared out of no where.

An uncrumpled stocking.  This is the one we fill.  She has another that Santa fills that is a Ballerina we bought from Pottery Barn to actually use when we were away for Christmas that has her name embroidered, but hey I want to fill a stocking too!

and..
the most beloved ornament of our time.  Amelia's first ornament made at pre-school.

Will surely post one time before the big day.
