I must admit I have been a slacker on getting events posted. Sarah and her mom paid us a visit back in July and it has taken me THIS LONG to update everyone...my apologies!
Although the weather didn’t cooperate ALL the time, we managed to get in some memorable days. We first headed to the museum and scouted around Anchorage. I was determined to find them a moose and I figured the Tony Knowles trail by the airport was the best place. (Why moose hang around the busy spots is beyond me..but they seem to like it.) We spotted a bull lying in the grass that had little interest in all the tourists taking his pic.
Heading to one of my favorite destinations: Independence Mine was our next stop. The weather held out for us to take the now ceremonial photo on the Rock (for those who have been here...you know the one!). After that we headed to Prince William Sound for the traditional boat cruise. We spotted some caving glaciers and a seal or two on the ice. Oh need to mention it was pouring rain.
Off to Denali! Lots of fires in the Interior had me worried that we wouldn’t get the chance to see the mountain...but low and behold the skies opened up and the view was spectacular. Saw moose, bear, ptarmagin, fox, caribou and incredible views.
Next we hit the Musk Ox farm and the Reindeer Farm for our dose of musk ox and attacking caribou then it was off to Seward and the Seward Sealife Center where Woody the Sea Lion did not disappoint!
Finally a trip to Alyeska was the spookiest I have ever been. Lots of clouds and still a lot of snow. Mt Redoubt’s ash was apparent up there as a gray coating was on everything. Last we visited another of my favorite stops...the Alaska Conservation Center before heading back.
Lots of great food too! I love being a tour guide! Hope you guys had a memorable time.
