The Weekend and A Rare Non-Disney Movie Night

Rare Non Disney Movie Night

For whatever reason our darling daughter did not nap yesterday, therefore, she fell asleep in my arms at 6 pm,  WHICH allowed mom and dad a rare movie night all to themselves!  What to watch???!  What to watch??!!  We had to choose carefully.  The last time this happened we watched The Road...ugh.  This time we popped in Bank Job only to realize we both have seen it.  Stop the movie!    Whew that was a close one!  We had a stack of movies that have not been open, however, between the both of us we had seen all of them.  We checked our on line choices....Sherlock Holmes!  I have been wanting to see this and thought I might catch this on the plane one of these days while Amelia slept. Ugh..Rob had seen it already (on a plane of course), but lucky me said he loved it and would watch it again.  YEAH FOR ME!  It was fabulous! I give it ****... LOVED IT!  Now the only problem is when would we ever get to see the second?  It is suppose to be better than the first.  Keep her up without a nap when it comes out on Blu-ray? Is that wrong??

Of course, there was a downside to all of this.  I am sure the moms reading know what it is....sigh...bright eyed and bushy tail at 4 am this morning.  Oh well...it was worth it!

Tag Sales
Alaska is big on Tag Sales it seems, even with Craigslist and Ebay.  I have been venturing out these past few weekends on Friday mornings as Rob has been home, only to find a bunch of junk.  I was getting a little discouraged thinking everyone must be using the web to get rid of their good stuff.  I thought I would try a Sat morning and told Rob this was it for the season if I didn’t find something  of interest.
It seemed there was a sale on every corner!  I had $20 in my pocket and spent it after just 2 sales. I could have gone and grabbed more cash, but was sooo happy with what I found I went straight home!
I haven’t bought any My Little Pony’s for Amelia yet, but these were 25 cents and new, so I grabbed them fast.  She has been brushing their hair all day.  They fit nicely too in the back of Dora’s pickup truck that I bought for a $1, so when not combing their hair, they have a nice ride!  The binoculars were 10 cents...every time she looks through them she sees a moose.  The movies were all $1 (can’t believe we didn’t have Aladdin and Mulan!)and when I came across the Mickey Mouse Christmas Tales I almost gasped out loud!  We have been watching Mickey Mouse’s Christmas Carol over and over (seriously, I think Amelia loves Christmas more than me...thought that was impossible, but she does have my genes).
Bought the Hello Kitty Bag that still had tags from a young girl who’s mom said had a $20 price tag on it originally, but after explaining to her daughter that sales are meant to get rid of the old to make room for the new,  she reluctantly came down to $2.  The daughter was working at her homemade lemonade stand (she put a lot of effort into it I could tell) and since I like to encourage entrepreneurship, I gave her my last $5 (50 cents for the lemonade and a $4.50 tip trying to get a little closer to the $20 price tag she originally placed on the bag and hoping it made her feel a bit better too,  that her bag was going to a new adoring home).  With no more money...I was very eager to get home and show Amelia and Rob my finds!

Yes yes I know it doesn’t add up to $15.  I also picked up a few more things:  the Littlest Pet Shop Kitty and Sesame Street Count Car for Amelia that are in the picture, as well as, chimes, the cutest candy dish, a couple of christmas decorations (no comments please), 3 frames and a popcorn holder ... Amelia LOVES popcorn!  Even Rob said I did well! :)

A Twist on Pizza
How much do I love Pinterest??  Lots.  I have found so many good Ideas.  Now have WAY too many projects and recipes to ever complete.  Oh well.
I would not consider Amelia a picky eater, but she likes what she likes and that changes a lot.  On second thought... :)  What to feed the kid??!  She would eat Peanut Butter and Jelly everyday for lunch and Kielbasa or Hot Dog every day for dinner.  She doesn’t like leftovers it seems, but that is too bad, we don’t waste :)
She does like cheese wrapped in a tortilla, so when I saw this super easy recipe on Pinterest, I made it right away (again with the super easy super fast!).  She ate half, but I thought it was very tasty.  The iron skillet is the key I think and I did a bit of a twist from the original recipe of red sauce and basil.  Rob asked if I would make him one.

Skillet Tortilla Pizza
INGREDIENTS
  • Tbls Butter
  • Flour tortillas (about 8-inches diameter)
  • Grated mozzarella cheese
  • Sprinkle of Garlic Powder
  • Pepperoni Slices
DIRECTIONS
Heat a large cast iron skillet on medium high to high heat. Add Butter (you could do this without butter, but Amelia loves butter :)  Place a flour tortilla in the center of the skillet. When the tortillas begins to puff up or form air bubbles, flip it and turn the heat down to medium low. Pierce the air bubbles with a knife or fork to deflate them a bit.

Sprinkle the top of the tortilla with the grated mozzarella cheese (as much or as little as you would like.  In Amelia’s case... LOTS).  Sprinkle with Garlic Powder and add Pepperoni Slices.
Note: If using red sauce, use a thin layer of mozzarella and wait til the cheese is about half-way melted, spoon on a thin layer of tomato sauce, using the back of the spoon to spread over the cheese. Sprinkle the top of the tomato sauce with a little more cheese then add any toppings.  Add basil off heat if you so choose.
Once the edges of the tortilla are browning, remove the pan from the heat. Cover the top of the pan with a cover for about a minute or so, so the cheese can melt with the residual heat from the pan.
Serve and enjoy!

Sunday Morning 10:30 and Amelia is napping (that is what happens when you get up at 4 am). Still a bit more to the weekend, but will close for now!  Enjoy!  Happy Sunday!
